Recently, sallyfrancklyn.com expired (and I tried to renew it but failed) so my site is now sallyfrancklyn.org!! A big change, I know, but it’s something we’ll have to get used to. 🙂
I’ve realized that I need to make some changes as a result of my abilities now after my injury. I’m taking MasterDrive (the same one as when we were teenagers) to help me gain some of my independence back. (Thanks, Roy!!)
I’m also starting to see a counselor here. Previously, I had one in Boulder, and when I moved back to Colorado Springs, we had to chat on Skype. She was a great resource to talk to, because her son also has a TBI, so she already knew what my challenges were/are. Steve at the High Fives Foundation encouraged me to see someone in person. I talked with someone in person last week, and I’m visiting somebody different this week. Hopefully I can decide who’s better at listening to and working through my issues with me after that!
I’ve also been applying for jobs. My experience over-qualifies me for some “basic” jobs, but my lack of work experience approaching four years hasn’t qualified me for jobs that meat my fortitude now. It’s rare to find part-time jobs that meet my desires.
Last night was Air Academy High School’s Class of ’05 reunion, organized by the very talented and thoughtful Kendra Van Ness. It was a total flashback to be reminded of everyone I used to know back in high school. They’re still the same people that I remember- funny, friendly, and wise.
Struggling with the results of my ski accident have proven really difficult. Yes, I’m lucky to still be here, but I’m faced with new challenges that I have to learn to adapt to.
Hopefully you enjoy the new design and I’ll do my best to post on a more regular basis!
